He like a comet seemed, and wild and glad
and free ---
And, all through Heaven, I dreamed,
rushed madly up to me.
Back from his haloed head, a flaming tail
streamed far ---
This way and that it sped and waved
from star to star.
And as I saw it, it shot like searchlights
through the sky ---
And I knew that my Irish Hound
had gone to Heaven as well as I !

An athletic sight hound of great size, commanding appearance, very muscular, strongly, though gracefully built on the lines of a heavy, rough~coated Greyhound, with movements easy and active. Head and neck carried high, tail sweeping upward with a slight curve toward the extremity. Noble in bearing, his is a build that bespeaks speed, power, agility and endurance.
